It is based on the understanding that individuals are deeply influenced by their family systems and ancestral history, and that unresolved traumas or conflicts within the family can affect present-day emotions, behaviors, and relationships. For me, every encounter with Terka is refreshing and unconventional. Her unique perspective on our behavior, reactions, and ways, and her ability to show things from a different angle, never ceases to fascinate me. It helps me realize the cause of my ingrained stereotypes, open up to new possibilities, and enjoy life more. Terka is very humane and empathetic, highly experienced as a therapist as well as a manager, and therefore, she has a holistic view. She doesn't shy away from sensitive topics but names them, creating an atmosphere of immense trust. Every meeting with her is an inspiration and enrichment for me.

I chose Tereza because she has a professional approach, combined with gentleness and sensitivity. The way of guidance is crucial for a client, and that's why I feel very comfortable with her. I wanted to try constellation on the relationship with my dad. I was in the process of realizing that not everything was exactly the way I remembered it. I felt that constellations can move me a step closer to understanding of our relationship. Constellation surprised me by strength of the experience. I felt big pain which my dad and his ancestors were suffering from. After this experience I can understand more what he has gone through and it helped my reconcilitation and acceptance of who he is.

Systemic Constelations process

Constellations as a method have been created by Bert Hellinger in last century. The approach is based on the idea that a members are connected in a web of relationships that form a larger, interconnected system. The constellation process involves setting up a physical representation of this system using objects or people to represent members of a system, which can help reveal underlying dynamics and unresolved issues. Systemic work with constellations uses fenomenologic approach focused on here and now. A therapist here does not insert their own ideas or intentions, but patiently waits for what the present moment brings. The value of this work stems directly from the present reality, not from the therapist's learned knowledge. It is an open, refreshing work with people focused on their resources in a positive way. For systems, several rules apply, and we jointly investigate which rules have been disrupted in the client's system. To simplify, I will mention three basic rules:

  1. There must be a balance between giving and receivingIn the system.

  2. Members of the system must respect those who came into the system before them.

  3. Everyone who enters the system has the right to belong to it.

In constellations, according to the client's wishes, the causes can either be merely observed and understood, or, through the work itself, the client's attitude and understanding can also be changed.

In a typical constellation session, the client will:

1. DESCRIBE TOPIC

Client describes the topic/issue, adds information about history, including significant events or conflicts, eventually deaths or exclusion of someone from the system.

2. CHOOSE REPRESENTATIVES

We will agree on Characters that need to be present in constellation. In individual constellations we will use paper on the floor or object on the table to represent these characters. In group constellations these Characters can be represented by people chosen by client in the room where constellations are happening

3. CONSTELLATION FLOW

In an individual constellation, the Facilitator gradually steps onto each piece of paper on the ground, representing each selected Representative, and describes their feelings and relationships with the other Representatives. In group processes, the Facilitator is in contact with individual Representatives, exploring their emotions and respectfully facilitating the entire process of uncovering what has been hidden and what can be revealed. In this way, clients gain insights into patterns and relationships within their system and can identify unresolved conflicts that currently affect them. It is possible to "resolve" conflicts and create a new image within the constellation.

Example from family constellations: The client's mother did not provide support and affection, leading to a significant absence of love in the client's life. In the constellation, we discover that this was caused by the tragic death of the grandmother's great love and her subsequent marriage to the grandfather. As a result, the grandmother became hardened, and love was simply missing from the system. A possible solution could be to allow the representative of the grandmother to acknowledge everything and mourn her love posthumously. This will bring her relief, and she will accept her grief without passing it on to her daughter (the client's mother) along with the unspoken or spoken warning that love hurts and only toughness allows survival. The representative for her daughter can then feel love and become a better mother to the client. In more challenging cases where relief or finding the cause is not possible, we try to help the client detach from their parents' story and burdens (whatever they may be), let them have their fate, and find the resources, motivation, and strength to create their own story, live their own life according to their own ideas and rules.

Example from corporate constellations: A manager is not successful in their role, experiencing frequent conflicts within the team, and the cause is not obvious. In the constellation, we find that the reason is that their predecessor in the same role was fired from the company and their contribution to the system was not acknowledged. In such cases, other members of the system (the remaining employees) are subconsciously loyal and do not accept the new person. In the constellation, representatives for the leadership can then acknowledge what happened and perform a small ritual of recognition and gratitude. This brings relief to all Representatives, and they can finally accept the new manager.

4. WORK AFTER

The key to the success of this therapy is the client's openness and willingness to embrace a new inner image. In both cases, the client can experience amazing things in their life because they will look at it with fresh eyes, communicate differently, perceive their surroundings differently, and radiate a different energy. If it is too difficult for them to accept that image and they resist it, the change will be much slower or may not happen at all. That's why I offer my clients the option of longer-term care and support on their journey.
